Payroll Bureau
Many churches now have significant numbers of paid staff. We have a payroll bureau to deal with all aspects of paying staff including the preparation of monthly or weekly payrolls, production of payslips and the year end return to HM Revenue & Customs. All this for a small fixed monthly fee. Please telephone for more details.
National Insurance
In addition to paying tax most of us also have to pay national insurance (ni). There are various classes of ni and the class you have to pay depends of your employment status. There is less scope for ni planning as there is in tax but please do not hesitate to ask for advice.
Completion of the following Tax Return schedules:
- Ministers of Religion
- Employment
- Self Employment
- Land and Property
- Capital Gains Tax
- Foreign Income
- Trust Income
- Partnership
- Non-Residence
Small business accounts – VAT – Bookkeeping
If you are self employed or a partner in a small business, or you’re thinking of starting in business, we can assist in the preparation of your annual accounts and Tax Returns. The earlier you speak to us the better as there are time limits imposed by HM Revenue & Customs in notifying them when your trade commences. Failure to adhere to the time limits for tax and national insurance registration may lead to a penalty. We can advise on the kind of records you need to keep and the allowability, for tax purposes, of the expenses you may incur.
Handling formal enquiries by the Inland Revenue under Section 9A Taxes Management Act 1970
The letter we all dread from HM Revenue begins “I intend to open an enquiry……………” The probability of receiving such a letter is very small but does happen. Our initial advice is don’t panic and don’t worry. Most enquiries that we deal with do not give rise to additional tax but enquiries can be stressful and will entail exchange of correspondence, perhaps over some months. You will also usually be required to submit some of your tax records which you should have retained to enable your Tax Return to be completed. You will find more information regarding record keeping on the separate web page. What you can rely on, however, is that we will deal with all of the correspondence on your behalf in an efficient manner and will fight to ensure that you only pay the right amount of tax, not too much or not too little.

I have used Tax Management for Clergy for a few years now. They initially rescued me from a difficult situation when I had been let down by my former tax advisor. They are efficient, speedy, helpful, courteous and reasonably priced and I would be happy to recommend them to any clergy in need of tax help or who need to be set free from the tax return to do other things."
